Dennis Rader, Ph.D.,
is the founder and principal of Rader
Technology Licensing ().
In addition to his consulting activities, he has held leadership
positions in technology and intellectual property management, corporate
R & D management, and university teaching and research for more
than 30 years. Most recently, he was Mobil Oil Corporation's Licensing
Executive responsible for managing the company's worldwide exploration
and producing technology licensing business. On May 1, 2000, Dr.
Rader formed ,
which specializes in the following consulting services to
corporations: technology licensing, strategies for managing intellectual
property, technology valuation, management of technology transfer,
and negotiation of license and other technology-based agreements.
Dr. Rader's consulting
clients have included Mobil Oil Corporation, Exxon Mobil Corporation,
Pitney Bowes Inc., American Optical Corporation, Ensign Bickford
Corporation, Raymond Engineering, and United Technologies. As principal
Dr. Rader is committed to the achievement of tangible results for
clients. In a consulting assignment for Mobil Oil Corporation that
began in 1991, he created and built the foundation of Mobil's worldwide
exploration and producing technology licensing program. In 1994,
he joined Mobil as Licensing Executive to further develop and manage
that new business. Under his direction, Mobil's exploration and
producing technology royalty income has grown at an annual rate
of 40% since 1997.
In earlier professional
affiliations, Dr. Rader held senior management positions at Teleco
and NL Industries and a senior research position at Schlumberger.
He was also Professor of Engineering and Applied Science at Yale
University from 1967 to 1973, and later, as Adjunct Professor, he
taught at Yale in the School of Engineering and the School of Management
from 1989 to 1996.
In other professional
activities, Dr. Rader has been a director of CiDRA Corporation since
1997. CiDRA develops, manufactures, and sells optical sensing systems
and optical network products. He is an active member of the Licensing
Executives Society (U.S.A. and Canada) and other professional organizations.
He has authored or coauthored more than a dozen scientific and business
articles in technical journals and books and holds US Patent 4,289,023.
Dr. Rader holds degrees from the Cooper Union (B.C.E.) and Brown
University (Sc.M. and Ph.D.).
